We believe that people fleeing war and persecution should be welcome in Croydon and be helped to start rebuilding their lives. Our mission is to create a safe, supportive community and we have a clear set of values: to be welcoming, inclusive, respectful, reflective and trustworthy.
We have a team of about 70 volunteers and four part-time staff – our Manager, our Operational and Volunteer Coordinator, our Family Support Coordinator and our Administrator.
Some of the team are refugees. Some were born in the UK, some are still in the asylum system. Almost all of us are volunteers, who do everything from picking up, sorting, managing and distributing our donations, to teaching English and running dance and yoga classes.
Oversight is provided by our board of six experienced Trustees.
We are blessed with a diverse group of dedicated, caring and talented volunteers.
Among them is the artist who created the unique paintings and drawings that decorate these pages.
She passes on those skills at our Wednesday Welcome sessions, where she leads informal art classes.
